Wedding Update + Moodboard!

Wedding Dress Shopping!

Things have been pretty darn crazy over here lately between wrapping up some freelance projects, starting new ones, and DUN DUN DUN—planning Aaron’s and my wedding! :D

We’ve had our venues in the books for a while now (Pabst Brewery for ceremony and Hinterland Gastropub + Brewery for reception—yay beer!), we booked our amazing photographer Athena Pelton, and one week ago from today I found and purchased my wedding dress!

Last Tuesday, my mom and wonderful Maid of Honor (who drove all the way down here from the Madison area for the day! Isn’t she the sweetest?!) headed into downtown Chicago on a quest to find a dress—the dress. I had expected this process to end up a wild a goose chase. It usually seems like every time I go to the store for one thing specifically, like a new pair of jeans, I can never find that one thing and end up leaving with something else (oh hey, cute sweater). However, I’m happy to report that my wedding dress shopping experience was NOTHING like that. To be honest, this was by far one of the easier decisions I’ve made about the wedding so far! I am so excited about the dress I picked and incredibly grateful that everything went as smoothly as it did!

Since I can’t share any photos of the dress, the photo above showing a little look into the beautiful BHLDN boutique is all you get…for now ;) After finding THE dress, we headed out for a celebratory lunch at the amazing Doc B’s for some delicious food and sparkling drinks :)

Finding the dress left me feeling excited and productive, and I used that momentum to finish the final touches on our wedding’s moodboard/style board!

Kristy + Aaron 2016 Wedding Moodboard

Aaron and I are both so pleased with how it turned out, and we hope our guests will love the experience we’re designing for them! With our ceremony and reception taking place at two very beer-centric locations in Milwaukee, we want to make sure that some of the natural/neutral tones come through in both the decor and the overall tone of the event (think hardwood, branches, rich dark stouts, and pops of gold/golden yellow). Pair that with my love of hot pink and balance it out with a bit of navy, and you’ve got the perfect mashup up (in our humble opinions).

We’re both pretty laid back people with a love of beer and a good time with close friends, so we hope our wedding can capture that. I can’t wait to start using this guide to crank out some exciting print design assets for the wedding! Hello wedding save the dates, invitations, menus, and signage galore! :)

Nautical Bridal Shower Moodboard

It’s been a while since I’ve shared any snippets of my work so I wanted to show you guys a sneak peek at one of my latest projects for a nautical lobster bake bridal shower on the East coast! How fun is that? :)

We’re aiming for a light and fresh take on the nautical theme with lots of white space—can you say swoon-worthy? We’re working on an invitation, registry card, and recipe card for this project, and I must admit that I’m really loving how things are coming together. The designs are looking good, and I can’t wait to share the final product once everything is said is done!

Nothing makes me happier than helping people throw parties that make their loved ones feel like they are the most important people in the world. If you’re throwing a party for a friend or family member who is unlike anyone else you know and stands out from the crowd in all the best ways, why not make sure their event invitations do the same? Drop me a line for a same-day quote on your next project :)

Moodboard: Romantic + Fresh

Wedding Invitation Suite Moodboard

The beginning of the year is always jam-packed with bridal shower and wedding invitation projects, but this year’s collection of projects is especially lovely! While I can’t share all of the details yet, I promise you the designs I’ve got in the works are nothing short of delightful. Let’s just say there’s a lot of very pink projects over here ;)

Since we’re coming up on Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share this romantic and adorable moodboard for some wedding invitations I’m working on (for an incredibly fun and energetic couple!). This just might be my favorite moodboard to date! How cute is that couple in the corner? We’re going for a very fresh + feminine look with a modern twist.

There are few things I love more than passionate clients who share my love for cheerful design and crisp, clean typography. Plus, this couple specifically requested a fun ampersand which is pretty much every designer’s dream! :)

Home for the Holidays

Home for the Holidays

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 //

Though I live far closer to my family this year than I did last, there is still something exciting about loading up the car with presents for the people I love most.

The next few days will be spent away from work and blogging so I can spend some much needed time relaxing with friends and family from near and far. There will be lots of reading, relaxing, board game playing, and catching up going on, and I can hardly wait! Did I mention that I will also be spending time eating a lot of delicious food (especially these caramels)? I suppose that’s a given :P

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Moodboard: Splash!

Splash Moodboard

I am so excited about this branding design project that I’ve been working on that I just had to share. This is the moodboard for a logo design for a water park/aquatic center. It’s been great to let myself get swept away in a lot of warm, summer visuals since the winter weather is now in full swing. For this design project, we’re focusing on creating a logo and brand that is warm, sunny, and playful without looking too juvenile. The logo will be prominent on location signage, and I can’t wait to see how this new cheerful look will breathe new life into the location. Just one more reason to look forward to summer!

Top Secret Moodboard - Literally

Top Secret Moodboard

I am so excited about this new project that I couldn’t help but share the moodboard! Two of my best friends is getting married in this summer which means *drumroll* a bachelorette party is in order! Before I talk more about that, take a minute to look how cute these kids are. Seriously.

Anyway, when the bride-to-be kindly asked if her bachelorette party could be spy-themed, I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to get planning! Let’s be real, who doesn’t love a babealicious-but-bad-ass themed party? To get the creative juices flowing, I worked up this little moodboard. I wish I could share more of this, but I wouldn’t want to spoil any secrets for our bachelorette so this moodboard will have to suffice.

Cool Spring Breeze

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

For those of us in the midwest, we’re finally on the cusp of finally making it to spring! We had a rough winter, but even just these few handful of warm days have been enough to throw me into spring fever. I love spring for all the reasons that I simultaneously complain about it - it’s rainy, it’s cool, and you only have a 30% chance of a beautiful day. Those beautiful days are what fill me with enthusiasm and energy in the anticipation of the upcoming summer. Yet just when I’m feeling like I can take on the world because it’s finally 60°F, it drops down to freezing again…and I’ve learned to love this. The weather isn’t so nice out that I feel the need to blow off my ever-growing to-do list so I actually end up staying in tackling a lot of extra personal projects (and let’s be real, Netflix watching too).

If you are loving any of the items in the moodboard above, definitely check out the links below the picture to visit the amazing Etsy store owners who produced them. Support small business, friends!

Love is Food

Love is Food

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

It’d been a while since my last moodboard post, and I thought a love-inspired board might be in order. I quickly retreated to Pinterest to look at a board I vaguely remember starting this summer. In my head, it was full of cute and romantic photos that were just dripping with all that lovey-dovey nonsense. However, when I looked at board, I discovered that it was pretty much just a bunch of pictures of delicious pastries and other food. Evidently, love is food in the world of Kristy! Plus, I think loving food is something most of is can agree upon! Three cheers to discount goodies on February 15th!

Also, check out this awesome neon installation I saw last weekend! Love!

Moodboard: Giddy for Gold

image

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 //

If you would’ve asked me even a year ago how I felt about gold, I would’ve told you I HATED it. In the world of metallics, I always thought of myself as more of a silver fan, but somewhere along the line that started to changed. Now I’m not saying I’m all for team gold now (Wait, do people even say stuff like “Team ____” anymore? Whatever.) because I still like silver more BUT I am learning to love gold. More specifically, I’m starting to get really into gold polka dots. It probably started with these cute thank you cards, and since then, I’ve started to notice other gold goods have worked their way into my home and designs.

Untitled

For example, I recently bought this awesome hot pink and gold polka dot notebook after my mom bought me a similar one for Christmas that I love. Plus it’s no secret that I love hot pink (and pretty much every other unforgivably bright and bold color) so this was too perfect. The postcard is one that I bought from one of my favorite stationery boutiques over the summer that I’ve had on display in my living room. Even my nails are gold!

And hey, don’t forget to check out the links to each of the images because these are all awesome things that you can buy on Etsy! Shopping spree, anyone?
