When I was just a toddler, my parents and I have gone to the Chicago Bluesfest together. Even though there were a few years when I couldn’t make it, my parents usually still went. This year, my parents were the ones who already had plans, but I was still determined to go. Luckily, my friend Kaylin (who had never been to Bluesfest!) was going so I was able to join up with her and some other friends for a day fun in the sun.
The music was spot-on, the weather was perfect, and the company was second to none. The crowd was as lively as ever, and like always, added one more element of entertainment. Public transit offered additional amusement on the way home. Packs of glittery concert-goers from Spring Awakening stumbled into the street, slurring their words and trying to keep each other upright about as successfully as a tipi in a tornado.
After spending a day outside listening to good music, I found myself getting excited for other music festivals that I’ll be attending this summer like Pitchfork and Summerfest. Oh summer, how lovely you are!
