What a spectacular weekend (aside from the Blackhawks loss)! I visited my friend Emily up in the Madison-area and had such a lovely time, as per usual. A trip to the Madison’s Farmers’ Market was an absolute must, so we woke up early Saturday and spent our morning exploring the booths of local farmers, beekeepers, bakers and more. After a few hours, we left with happy hearts and heavy bags (full of treats similar to last years’ haul).
After our Farmers’ Market fun, we headed to one of Emily’s coworker’s house to get our craft on and paint some pots while enjoying the warm summer sun. Lately I’ve been obsessing over light teals and minty colors, so I used this as an opportunity to bring some into my home.
However, an empty pot just wouldn’t do. Since I’m pretty much the worst at keeping plants alive, I knew that some adorable cacti and succulents were pretty much my only option for living plants. I’m pretty much obsessed with Kate and Dade (yes, I named my plants), and since they was sale, I bought a third one (Joey) which I still need to get a new home for.
Saturday night it was off to the Ivory Room for a hilarious evening of dueling pianos. This was my first time at dueling piano bar, and I’ve got to say, it’s a must!
The whole experience was pretty much like karaoke where real musicians play your favorite songs and everyone in the place sings along. I’m also pleased to say that the pianists the night were able to accommodate both of my ridiculous requests (Shaggy’s - It Wasn’t Me and The Darkness’ I Believe in a Thing Called Love).
Despite the Blackhawks upsetting loss, I had an incredible weekend. It really was the perfect little weekend getaway.
